The app

A control centre, not a black box.

Optimal starts by reading your machine — CPU, GPU, memory, system drive and connection, live — then validates every tweak against your Windows build and hardware before it offers it to you. A global Simple/Advanced switch decides how much of the catalogue you see. The plan you see is the plan that runs.

Reversible network controls

Disable LLMNR name resolution

Situational

Turns off the multicast fallback Windows uses after normal DNS fails, which is the usual vector for local-network name-resolution spoofing.

Block insecure SMB guest logons

Situational

Stops this PC making unauthenticated SMB guest connections, keeping authentication protections on when you are on a network you do not control.

Require SMB client signing

Aggressive

Requires outbound SMB sessions to be signed rather than accepting unsigned file-sharing traffic. Flagged aggressive because older NAS and print devices can refuse it.

All three are Advanced-mode controls, need a reboot, and capture their exact prior state so they can be reverted.

These open the matching Windows tool. Optimal organises them rather than reimplementing them.

What Optimal will not do to your network

No blanket TCP registry presets. They are not one-size-fits-all, they are widely copied without measurement, and they are the reason so many "network optimizers" make things worse. Optimal measures the route and exposes the supported Windows controls instead. Per-game QoS will ship only with an exact executable target and a reversible policy.

Applying or undoing a run requires a fresh restore point. If Windows cannot create one, nothing executes.

FAQ

The questions worth asking.

Optimal never acts on its own. Startup does read-only hardware and current-state detection, and every change needs manual selection, a plan review showing the exact operations, and a confirmation. Applying a run creates a fresh System Restore point first — if Windows cannot create it, the run stops before a single change. Registry exports are written per run as readable .reg files. Controls are tiered verified, situational or aggressive, and the aggressive ones — turning off Memory Integrity, for instance — are labelled as such rather than buried in a preset.
